Art Lessons

Weekly during the school term

$25 per child per hour

Foster your child’s creativity, whilst they learn new skills, gain confidence, develop problem solving abilities, patience and determination.

We practice many different painting techniques, learning about colour theory, texture, composition, techniques and idea generation. Exploring brush stokes and mixing colours to create an image inspired by our imagination or the world around us. Other techniques taught include printmaking, sculpture, and textiles. Most importantly we have fun learning these new skills!

Each child works at their own pace in a small group setting and is encouraged to develop their individual style. Classes are kept small to around 3 students as I find they blossom with the personalized attention.

We start with painting a colour wheel so that we can understand how to mix colours, and how colours work in a painting (colour theory). This takes one class. Then we move on to paint a favourite animal (or pet) learning how to upscale an image onto a canvas and we refer to the painting style of Vincent Van Gogh who had quite an energetic brush stroke.

Children also are encouraged to participate in local exhibitions. We have recently displayed our paintings at Novel Tea Cafe in June 2019 and we participated in the Marigold and Mingo Music community fundraiser 'Artists in Harmony' where old instruments we painted and sold at auction and all the proceeds went to towards community organizations.

Weekly class times : Monday - Thursday: 2:30 - 3:30pm; 4:00 - 5:00pm; and 5:30 - 6:30pm
